Women's Soccer Upsets Medaille in Huge AMCC Win

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche women's soccer (6-6-3, 2-3-2) executed a perfect gameplan to upset Medaille College (7-8, 5-2) 3-1 and take over sixth place in the AMCC Conference.

Alexandra Rogers gave the Lady Redhawks an early 1-0 lead when she dropped a shot from midfield over the unassuming Medaille goalkeeper. The visiting Mavericks answered to tie it early in the second half but Bethanie Moreschi regained the La Roche lead just seven minutes later when she buried a beautiful pass from Marina Mattone.  Jessica Greco nailed home a rebound in the 64th minute to put the Lady Redhawks up for good.

Moreschi's goal tied Lindsey Talbot for second place on the all-time goal scoring list with 65 goals. She currently sits only 5 tallies short of the all-time record.

Rogers and Greco finished with a goal each and Mattone, Moreschi, and Nicole Ferraco all recorded assists. Katherine Golebie, Sarah Stierer, Hayley Shaw, and Morgan Whitney played great defense in the win.

The Lady Redhawks outshot Medaille 32-12 and attempted ten more corner kicks.

La Roche women's soccer will look to extend their winning streak when they travel to Carlow on Wednesday before heading up to Buffalo, NY to play Hilbert on Saturday.
