PITTSBURGH, PA – Lindsey McKay scored a goal in the 68th minute to give the Lady Redhawks (3-5-1) a 4-3 win over Waynesburg University (4-5) on cold and rainy Thursday afternoon.
The visiting Yellow Jackets got on the board less than a minute into the contest but McKay answered with a goal to tie it at 1-1. Waynesburg scored again in the 35th minute before Christine Chiodo drilled home a through ball from Katherine Golebie. Jessica Greco buried a rebound to give La Roche their first lead of the game but Waynesburg answered before McKay's game-winning goal.
McKay finished with 2 goals and an assist and Greco and Chiodo added a goal apiece. Katherine Golebie, Lauren Nogal, and Nicole Ferraco each had assists in the win. Maria DiPerna and Carly Sorco combined for 10 saves for the Lady Redhawks.
La Roche was outshot 25-5 but made the best of their opportunities to win the game. Waynesburg also attempted 13 corner kicks but the Lady Redhawks played great defense in their own box.
La Roche women's soccer returns to AMCC Conference play on Saturday at 1:00PM when they host Penn State Behrend. Last season the Lady Redhawks fell to Penn State Behrend 2-0 in the AMCC Conference Tournament First Round.
