Late Goal Powers La Roche to 2-1 Win Over Point Park

PITTSBURGH, PA – Bethanie Moreschi scored a goal in the 77thminute to lift the Lady Redhawks (2-3) to a 2-1 win and hand host Point Park University (4-1) their first loss of the season.

Lauren Nogal gave La Roche a 1-0 lead late in the first half when Taylor Breen intercepted a Point Park pass and fed Nogal for a goal. The Pioneers answered in the 73rd minute before Moreschi found the back of the net for the game winning goal. Goalkeeper Maria DiPerna made some key saves down the stretch to preserve the win.

Moreschi finished with a goal on 4 shots and Nogal scored on her lone strike of the game. Breen and Sarah Strier each registered an assist and Alexandra Rogers finished with 2 shots. Goalkeepers Destiney Davis and Maria DiPerna combined for 11 saves in the win.

The Lady Redhawks were outshot 24-10 but only 12-8 in shots on goal. Point Park was also called off sides six times.

La Roche women's soccer host Westminster on Tuesday and will try to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Titans last season.
