Hornikel Makes History Earning All-American Status

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - For the first time in not only La Roche women's lacrosse program history, but in the history of the AMCC as a women's lacrosse conference, Julianna Hornikel became the first player to earn the title of All-American, announced by USA Lacrosse Magazine on Wednesday.

Hornikel was one of the best goalkeepers in all of NCAA Division III, and after earning First Team All-AMCC honors, is now known as an All-American, being named Honorable Mention.

Hornikel finished the season leading the AMCC in almost every major statistical category, including a 6.00 goals against average, .592 save percentage, 87 goals allowed and was 2nd in the AMCC in saves with 126.

Hornikel's .592 save percentage led the country in NCAA DIII, while her 6.00 goals against average is 3rd best in the nation.

Furthermore, Hornikel ended the season 2nd on the team and T-3rd in the AMCC with 45 ground balls, while causing 18 turnovers to T-4th on the team.
