Redhawks Dominate Hilbert 18-0 In Programs First Ever Shutout Victory

HAMBURG, N.Y. – La Roche women's lacrosse picked up its second straight win, dominating Hilbert in an AMCC rematch, 18-0, to close the 2024 regular season with the programs first ever shutout victory.

It was all Redhawks in the first quarter, storming ahead to take a 6-0 lead.

At 11:59, La Roche found the back of the net to open the scoring as Kinsey Sperling netted the goal, assisted by Isabella Fittipaldo.

Fittipaldo picked up her second assist at 9:29 remaining as she helped Jade Fuccaro make it 2-0.

Two goals in 33 seconds made it 4-0 as Jasey Reiser scored with 7:42 to go, assisted by Sperling, then at 7:09, Tea Smith scored on a helper by Fittipaldo.

With 5:33 remaining, Fittipaldo picked up her fourth assist, setting up Fuccaro for the second time, the Reiser closed the first quarter scoring from the free position.

In the second quarter, Reiser scored another free position goal to make it 7-0 at the 11:48 mark, then six minutes later, Sperling and Fittipaldo connected again.

Just before the half, with 1:13 on the clock, Fuccaro netted her third goal of the game as it was 9-0 Redhawks at the break.

Out of the half, the running clock was put into effect with 9:30 to go in the third as Smith scored from the free position to make it 10-0.

Fuccaro was set up by Sperling at the 8:15 mark to go up 11-0, then Sperling scored unassisted just 36 seconds later.

La Roche would make it 14-0 through three quarters, scoring a pair of goals in the final 1:54, as Sperling assisted Reiser and then vice versa.

The Redhawks would score four in the final frame, one by Sperling (unassisted), two by Fuccaro (free position and assisted by Smith), then Reiser closed the scoring, again with the helper from Sperling.

The shot total ended well in favor of the Redhawks, 29-11 and shots on goal were 25-7.

Sperling racked up a team best nine points in the game, scoring five goals and assisting on four.

Julianna Hornikel earned the shutout, stopping all seven of the shots that came her way, while also picking up six ground balls and causing two turnovers.

Smith matched Hornikel with six ground balls, while Kiki Nemcek collected five of her own.

Nemcek and Victoria Biagetti led the team with five caused turnovers.

The Redhawks now prepare for postseason play, as they travel to Mt. Aloysius. Opening round action is scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 27 with faceoff at 7 p.m.
