Redhawks Soar Past Trinity 20-2

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's lacrosse welcomed Trinity (D.C) to the Baierl Athletic Complex on Tuesday, cruising to a 20-2 victory in a game that ended after three quarters due to the weather conditions.

La Roche picked up its second win of the season, the first time in the program's young four-year history.

The Redhawks were on fire from the opening faceoff, scoring 12 goals in the opening quarter.

In the quarter, Jasey Reiser, Tea Smith and Isabella Fittipaldo found the back of the net twice each, while Kiki Nemcek, Brooklyn Wongg, Alex Mecchia, Victoria Biagetti, Kinsey Sperling and Jade Fuccaro all picked up a goal each.

Picking up assists in the first were Fittipaldo (2), Wongg (2), Sperling (2) and Fuccaro.

The second quarter saw La Roche net five more goals to take an eventual 17-0 lead into the half.

Fittipaldo and Smith added their third goals of the game in the second, while Wongg, Nemcek and Fuccaro each scored their second of the afternoon.

Fittipaldo helped on her third goal, assisting Nemcek, while Fuccaro picked up her second assist on Smith's goal.

In the third, Smith scored free position for her fourth of the game, followed by Mecchia's second of the game, assisted by Nemcek.

Trinity scored a pair of goals in a 2:03 span in the third, the Biagetti's second goal, a free position shot, netted the final goal of the game with 38 seconds left in the third.

The Redhawks outshot Trinity 33-3 in the game and 23-2 in shots on goal.

La Roche returns to the field on Tuesday, Apr. 2 when it travels to Hilbert for its AMCC opener. Time of the game is yet to be announced.
