Redhawks Women's Lacrosse Falls To Titans

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's lacrosse welcomed Westminster on Saturday afternoon, but were unable to get past the Titans, falling 17-6.

Westminster took command from the start, scoring five goals in the first 6:13 of play.

The Redhawks netted its first goal with 8:03 remaining in the first when Kinsey Sperling scored, assisted by Tea Smith.

The Titans countered to make it 6-1, followed by La Roche's Jade Fuccaro making it 6-2, assisted by Sperling.

Entering the second quarter trailing 7-2, the Redhawks saw the deficit grow, being outscored 6-0 in the frame to fall behind 13-2 going into the half.

La Roche controlled the third period, scoring the first two goals of three in the frame, as Fuccaro scored a player down to make it 13-3, assisted by Isabella Fittipaldo at 11:05, then at 6:07, Kiki Nemchek netted an unassisted goal to make it 13-4.

Westminster upped the edge to 15-4 with the final goal of the third and first goal of the fourth.

The final two Redhawks goals came in a 1:13 stretch, when Nemchek scored her second of the game, unassisted, followed by Sperling, assisted by Fittipaldo.

The Titans closed the day with the final two goals to reach the eventual final score.

La Roche was outshot by Westminster 33-14 and 27-9 in shots on goal.

Fuccaro and Jasey Reiser led the team with four shots each, while Nemchek's three on goal was the team leader.

In goal, Julianna Hornikel mad 10 saves, facing 27 shots in the game, while Nemchek had a team-high four ground balls.

The Redhawks return to the field on Saturday, Mar. 16 when they host Spalding. Opening faceoff is set for 12 p.m.
