Lisa Evans To Lead Women's Lacrosse Program

La Roche College is excited to announce that Lisa Evans has been named head coach of the women's lacrosse program. Evans becomes the school's first women's lacrosse coach and has the unique task of building the program through her vision.

"I'd like to thank Sister Candace Introcaso, Jim Tinkey, and Katherine Golebie for the opportunity to begin the women's lacrosse program at La Roche College and grow the game of women's lacrosse in the Greater Pittsburgh area. I look forward to bringing my passion for this sport to the team, our beautiful campus, and the entire La Roche community".

"Over the course of the next 18-19 months, I will look to promote our program and find the right players to start this promising program in the fall of 2020. A club year for the 2019-2020 school year allows us the time to find players who not only embody the La Roche mission but who will give us the commitment needed to spearhead a program".

"My vision is to provide a well-rounded student-athlete experience for our players while creating a team who will compete for AMCC championships and eventually NCAA tournament berths."

Evans has been involved in the sport for over two decades, including the past ten years with NCAA Division I Duquesne University. Evans served as Duquesne's head coach during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons where she helped Mid-Fielder Carlee Braverman earn a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.

Evans' teams routinely performed well in the classroom. Over her two seasons, nine student-athletes received IWLCA/Zag Sports DI Academic Honor Roll Accolades for GPAs of 3.5 or Higher. Her 2017 and 2018 squads were recognized as an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA)/Zag Sports DI Honor Squad for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Evans served as a Duquesne assistant coach from 2009-16. During her tenure, she coached Caitlin Prince who ranked third in program history with 162 career goals, and had a program best 62 goals in 2012. Price became one of the Duke's best-ever players, earning first team all-conference in 2012 and 2014, all-rookie team, and 2012 IWLCA All West/Mid-West Region Second Team.

Evans enjoyed a standout collegiate career prior to joining the coaching ranks. Evans played attack for the nationally ranked University of Pittsburgh Panther Club team. She captained the team for three years and ranked top 3 in scoring in all four seasons.

Evans resides in the South Hills of Pittsburgh with her husband Owen and cat Cheese Pizza.

She is originally from West Chester, Pennsylvania.
