Redhawks Compete in AMCC Round Robin 1

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The La Roche University women's bowling team opened their 2021 season at the AMCC Round Robin #1 (South Group) Saturday afternoon at AMF Playmor Lanes. The Redhawks faced off against New Jersey City, Penn St. Altoona and Mt. Aloysius in three, best of five game baker matches.

LRU dropped their first match of the day to the New Jersey City Knights by a total pinfall of 667-771. The Redhawks defeated the Knights in the second game, 190-132, but lost their other four games. LRU's 190 mark in game two was their best score of the day.

In the second match of the day, the Redhawks fell to Penn St. Altoona by a total pinfall of 657-759. LRU bowled their best score in the final game against Lions, posting a 166.

The final match of the day came against Mt. Aloysius. The Mounties bested La Roche 691-876. Although the Redhawks lost, it was their highest team score of the day.

Overall, the Redhawks knocked down a total 2,015 pins in 15 games for a baker average of 134.3

Mount Aloysius proved to be the best team of the day as they won all three matches with a total pinfall of 2,556.

1. Mt. Aloysius: 2556 pins, 170.4 average

2. New Jersey City: 2435 pins, 162.3 average

3. Penn St. Altoona: 2,204, 146.9 average

4. La Roche: 2,015, 134.3 average

Next up, La Roche will visit Altoona, PA for the second and final AMCC Round Robin on Saturday, March 6 at the F.A. Gerhart Lanes inside the Bavarian Aid Society. The Redhawks will once again face off against the south group for the last conference event of the regular season, competing in traditional team format matches which are set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
