Redhawks Place 8th at 2nd AMCC Round Robin

ALTOONA, Pa. - La Roche women's bowling went 2-7 and placed 8th out of 10 conference schools at the second AMCC Round Robin this past weekend. During the two day invitational, LRU faced all nine conference opponents in head-to-head traditional matches. La Roche women's soccer players, Darcie Domanowski and Piper Claypool, stepped up and took the places of Jessie Nakamura and Isabelle Orange, who were unable to attend.

The Medaille College women's bowling team claimed their third consecutive AMCC Regular Season Title after going 8-1 this weekend in the second round robin of the season, and 16-2 overall in conference play this season. Their 16-2 overall record tied with Saint Vincent College, but the Mavericks prevailed in total pinfall in head-to-head matches (1,857 to 1,745) with the Bearcats to claim the top seed.

The Redhawks missed the AMCC postseason by just 58 pins. LRU tied Pitt Bradford in the conference W-L column, both teams posting 6-12 records in AMCC action, but the Panthers held a 1,448-1,390 pin advantage in matches against La Roche and therefore claimed the 6th and final spot while the Redhawks took 7th.

Freshman Ashley Kennedy was the Redhawks top performer at the event, placing 13th in the individual standings out of 62 competitors. Kennedy averaged a score of 159.56 and played all nine games. She bowled her best game, a 181, against Penn St. Behrend on Day One.

At Day One of the event (3/7), the Redhawks went 0-5 against the likes of Pitt Bradford (764-610), Mt. Aloysius (836-708), D'Youville (782-656), Penn St. Behrend (802-608) and Medaille (844-652). All five of those teams qualified for the conference postseason.

After being defeated by St. Vincent 857-597 in the first match of Day Two (3/8), La Roche went on to win two of their final three matches against Penn St. Altoona (674-642) and Hilbert (742-633). The Redhawks final match against the Hawks was their highest pin total of the tournament, ending the season on a solid note.
