Women's Bowling Competes in First Home Match vs. St. Vincent

MCCANDLESS, Pa. - The Redhawks played their first home match of their inaugural season this afternoon against the St. Vincent Bearcats in one traditional and two baker games. The home venue for women's bowling this season will be Perry Park Lanes in the North Hills, less than 5 minutes from La Roche's campus. The Redhawks bowling team averaged 119 on the day in a 3-0 sweep by the Bearcats.

The first game of today's match was played in the traditional format. Junior Alyssa Smith shot a team-high 152 in the game. LRU finished with a team score of 583. 

The last two games were played in the Baker format; when multiple bowlers combine to bowl one game. Freshman Ashley Kennedy shot a team-high 146 in the second game this afternoon. Heading into today's match, Kennedy was averaging a score of 19.75 per frame (1st in AMCC), a 45% strike rate (1st in AMCC) and an 8.8 first ball score (1st in AMCC).

Senior Jessica Nakamura, women's soccer starting defender, shot a team-high 126 in the final Baker set. Jessie averaged a team-best 132 in three games on the day. Nakamura is not the only multi-sport athlete on the 2019 women's bowling roster. Isabelle Orange (Women's Soccer) and Rochelle Selzer (Women's Tennis) are also members of the team. 

NEXT UP: Women's bowling heads up to Buffalo, NY on November 2nd to compete in a two-day invitational hosted by Medaille College.
