Redhawks Take Down Pioneers 96-69 For Sixth Straight Win

ALFRED, N.Y. – La Roche women's basketball moved its win streak to six and improved to 10-0 in AMCC play with another dominant victory, this time over Alfred State, 96-69.

It was all Redhawks from the opening tip, opening the game with a 10-0, cruising to an eventual 24-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was much more competitive, as the teams traded baskets throughout the 10 minutes and the score going into the half was still in favor of La Roche, 46-27.

Out of the break, it was the Pioneers who got the better of the Redhawks, outscoring La Roche 29-24, as they trimmed the deficit to 70-59.

In the early stages of the fourth, the lead stayed around 17, but from 4:27 remaining until 2:02 left in the contest, the Redhawks used an 11-1 run to closed out the afternoon and seal the victory.

For the game, La Roche shot 48.6% (35-for-72) from the floor and 9-for-23 (39.1%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 17-for-21 (81%).

On the other side, the Pioneers went on to shoot 49.1% (26-for-53) from the field, 4-for-13 (30.8%) from three and 13-for-20 (65%) from the free-throw line.

All five Redhawk starters hit for double figures, with guards Jazmine Dunn and Danielle Allen leading the charge.

Dunn and Allen hit for 20 each in the game, both netting four three-pointers. Dunn added eight assists and three steals to her stat line, while Allen chipped in four assists.

Machia Hairston recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 16 points and securing 20 rebounds.

Makayla Abram and Dasja Anderson both scored 13 points, with Abram adding nine rebounds and Anderson with three boards and a pair of assists.

La Roche concludes its two-game road swing on Wednesday, Jan. 24 when they travel to Mt. Aloysius. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
