Redhawks Cruise Past Celtics 99-61

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball reached 35 consecutive wins in AMCC play with another dominating 99-61 victory, this time over Carlow.

After the teams traded baskets in the opening 1:26 of play, the Redhawks then used a 9-1 run to open an 11-3 lead to take control early.

As time went on, the lead was cut to 16-11, but La Roche ended the opening quarter with a 14-4 stretch to lead 28-15 going into the second.

It was all Redhawks, outscoring the Celtics 20-4 in the first nine minutes of action in the second and 22-10 for the entire quarter, to lead 50-25 at the half.

Out of the break, La Roche continued to add on to its lead, with a 26-13 margin in the third quarter, and after the game was already at hand, the Redhawks and Carlow matched each other in the fourth quarter, 23-23.

For the game, La Roche shot 53.3% (40-for-75) from the floor and 11-for-24 (45.8%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 8-for-13 (61.5%).

On the other side, the Celtics went on to shoot just 34.8% (23-for-66) from the field, 5-for-27 (18.5%) from three and 10-for-18 (55.6%) from the free-throw line.

Four Redhawks netted double figures, with Jazmine Dunn's 20 points, three rebounds, five assists and three steals leading the charge.

Machia Hairston recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 17 points and 14 rebounds, followed by 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and five steals by Dasja Anderson and another 15 points from a returning Alexis Robison.

La Roche hits the road for a pair of games, beginning on Saturday, Jan. 20 when they travel to Alfred, N.Y. to take on Alfred State. Opening tip is set for 2 p.m.
