Redhawks Take Down Lady Lions 87-55

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball continued its stretch of dominant performances on Saturday, taking down Penn State Altoona 87-55.

Midway through the first quarter the score remained tied at 6-6, and with 4:34 left, the Lady Lions took an 8-6 lead.

However, it was all Redhawks the final 4:16, outscoring Altoona 17-3 to take a 23-11 lead into the second.

The Lady Lions would only once in the second quarter trim the deficit to under double figures, but La Roche tacked on, putting together a 43-27 lead at the half.

Out of the break, the Redhawks used a 7-0 run at the midway point of the quarter to spark a 25-point lead, then in the fourth quarter opened up with an 11-2 run to open a 30-point edge and seal the victory.

For the game, La Roche shot 46.8% (36-for-77) from the floor and 2-for-12 (16.7%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 13-for-21 (61.9%).

On the other side, the Lady Lions went on to shoot just 32.3% (21-for-65) from the field, 6-for-23 (26.1%) from three and 7-for-8 (87.5%) from the free-throw line.

Three Redhawks hit for double figures with monster games from Dasja Anderson and Makayla Abram.

Both Anderson and Abram scored 27 points in the contest, while Anderson collected seven rebounds and a pair of assists, while Abram earned a double-double with 12 rebounds and a pair of assists of her own.

Jazmine Dunn was the third player to hit in double figures scoring 15 with seven rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Machia Hairston ripped down 13 rebounds to go alongside nine points.

La Roche stays home to welcome Carlow on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Open tip against the Celtics is slated for 7 p.m.
