Redhawks Cruise To Another AMCC Win, Topple Pioneers 80-48

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball continued its dominant play Saturday afternoon within the early AMCC schedule, toppling Alfred State 80-48 in the AMCC Game of the Week.

The Pioneers held the lead early, at a slim 5-2 score just 3:54 into the opening quarter.

Trailing 7-5, La Roche began a 6-0 run at 4:56 remaining to take an 11-7 lead, one it would never relinquish, taking a 20-14 lead into the second quarter.

Alfred State hung around in the second quarter, holding the deficit to around five, until the Redhawks outscored the Pioneers 10-4 over the final 3:56 of the half to take a 40-29 lead into the locker room.

Out of the break, La Roche really opened the game up, using a 10-4 run yet again to open a 53-33 lead in the third quarter, overall, outscoring Alfred State 24-12 to lead 64-41 going into the final quarter.

In the fourth, a 7-2 run opened a 71-43 lead out of the gate and after the Pioneers made it 73-47, the Redhawks scored seven of the final eight points of the game over the remaining 5:25 to seal the victory.

For the game, the Redhawks shot 43.2% (32-for-74) from the floor and 7-for-21 (33.3%) from deep. From the charity stripe, La Roche went 9-for-15 (60%).

On the other side, the Pioneers went on to shoot 34.5% (20-for-58) from the field, 3-for-16 (18.8%) from three and 5-for-9 (55.6%) from the free-throw line.

Four Redhawks hit double figures, with Jazmine Dunn's 21 points, four rebounds, nine assists and three steals leading the way.

Alexis Robison followed with 18 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Makayla Abram scored 12 with seven boards and Danielle Allen chipped in 11 points.

Machia Hairston cleaned the boards, corralling 17 to go along with eight points.

La Roche looks to make it 29 consecutive AMCC victories, when they travel to Penn State Behrend on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Opening tip is slated for 7 p.m.
