Redhawks Drop Final Leg Of Road Trip To Yellow Jackets

BEREA, Ohio – La Roche women's basketball was unable to end the four game road trip on a high note, falling to Baldwin Wallace 80-56.

The first quarter was back and forth the first five minutes of play, as it was the Redhawks holding onto a 9-8 lead.

The Yellow Jackets the pushed the issue, utilizing a 16-4 run over the second half of the first quarter, taking a 24-13 lead into the second.

La Roche tried to trim the deficit throughout the second, but could never get it below double figures, leading to a 43-26 halftime score.

Out of the break, the Redhawks would outscore Baldwin Wallace 20-19 in the third to trail 62-46 going into the final quarter, which saw the Yellow Jackets tack on, this time outscoring La Roche 18-10 to close out the contest.

For the game, the Redhawks shot 38.9% (21-for-54) from the floor and 5-for-14 (35.7%) from deep. From the charity stripe, however, La Roche went 9-for-14 (64.3%).

On the other side, Baldwin Wallace went on to shoot 52.5% (32-for-61) from the field, 5-for-19 (26.3%) from three and 11-for-13 (84.6%) from the free-throw line.

Leading the Redhawks offensively was Machia Hairston, the only player to reach double figures with 18 points and four rebounds.

Alexis Robison and Jazmine Dunn both chipped in eight points, with Dunn adding five assists, while Danielle Allen and Makayla Abram both scored seven points.

The Redhawks get an extended break as they don't return to the floor until Wednesday, Nov. 29 when they welcome Mt. Aloysius to open AMCC play. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
