McCANDLESS, Pa. - La Roche women's basketball will play in their fourth AMCC Game of the Week this season at Hilbert College this Saturday, February 15th. LRU took down the Hawks at the Kerr in their first AMCC GOTW of the season on January 18th, 84-69. After trailing by one point heading into the final quarter, La Roche outscored Hilbert 27-11 in the fourth. As a unit, La Roche was an impeccable 11 of 15 (73%) from the field in the fourth while holding Hilbert shooters to just 3 of 14 (21%) in the quarter. The Redhawks have won all three previous AMCC GOTW by double-digits.

La Roche (OVR: 16-5, AMCC: 16-1)

Last Time Out: The Redhawks dominated Franciscan at home last Wednesday (2/12), 81-55. LRU outscored Franciscan 27-12 in the first quarter and led by double-digits for the duration of the contest. Senior forward Jenna Cole finished with 20 points and six rebounds while draining 7 of 10 (70%) shot attempts including 3 of 5 (67%) from three point range. Dasja Anderson contributed 17 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block while shooting 6 of 8 (75%) from the field. Danajah Sanders finished with 14 points, two assists, a rebound and a steal while shooting a career-high 85.7% (6-7) from the floor. The trio of Sanders, Anderson and Cole shot an impeccable 19 of 25 (76%) from the floor combined. La Roche shot 55% (31-56) from the field as a unit, tying their season-high.

  • La Roche women's basketball has defeated every team in the conference at least once this season and currently sits atop the AMCC standings with a 16-1 league record, putting the Redhawks two games ahead of second place Hilbert (14-3).
  • The Redhawks have won four of their last seven games by 25 or more points.
  • As of late, senior F Jenna Cole is playing some her best basketball of the season, scoring at least 20 points in three of her last four games while shooting 72% (31-43) from the field during that span. Cole has averaged 16.5 points per game in AMCC action (5th best in AMCC).
  • Junior G Ayanna Mazyck has scored at least 14 points in each of her last eight games. In AMCC action, Mazyck is averaging 14.7 PPG (8th in AMCC), 2.0 3-PT/G (T-5th in AMCC) and 2.4 SPG (4th in AMCC).
  • Shaundrea Butler has dished out four or more assists in 13 straight contests. Butler ranks 2nd in the league in assists per game (4.9).

News and Notes

  • Hilbert College secured their four consecutive post-season appearance after they earned a 74-60 AMCC victory over Pitt-Bradford February 12.  In that game, senior guard Emily Gawlak become the program's all-time leading scorer knocking down 22 points.
  • At home, the Hawks are an impressive 9-1 this season, their only loss coming against D'Youville all the way back on November 20th.
  • Gawlak continues to lead the league in scoring with 17.9 PPG. 
  • Senior G Taylor Corts (14.9 PPG) has played every game with Gawlak and the duo have lifted Hilbert to a 14-3 league record.
  • Freshman forward Macy Kisner leads the Hawks in blocks and rebounds per game (8.8).

Series History

  • Although La Roche owns a 17-2 record against Hilbert dating back to 2010, the top seeds in the conference have split their last four meetings two games apiece.
  • Last year at Hilbert, the Hawks outscored the Redhawks 56-34 through the first three quarters, ultimately winning 66-56.
