La Roche Downs Pitt-Bradford, Takes Two Game Lead in AMCC

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Redhawks cruised to a 76-59 victory over Pitt-Bradford on Saturday. La Roche reaches the conference schedule's halfway point at 8-1 and with a two game cushion in the AMCC standings. The Redhawks are 9-6 overall.

Pitt-Bradford came out in a full court press and ran off the first five points. The Redhawks followed with 7 of the next 9 points, and a Shaundrea Butler three tied it at the 6:39 mark.

Nia Thomas drained a three from the corner to give La Roche their first lead of the game. Dalesza Regan then found Danajah Sanders for a wide-open three and a 15-11 lead. Butler followed with a steal and coast-to-coast layup for a six point advantage. Sanders finished a layup with a hand in her face and, despite a Panther three-pointer at the buzzer, headed into the first break with a 19-14 lead.

Jenna Cole opened the second quarter with a pair of free throws, and Sidney Farmer hit an open three to go up ten. Pitt-Bradford cut the deficit to four by the 4:58 mark.

The Redhawks responded, turning two straight stops into fastpoint layups and an eight point lead. Thomas capped the run with a rebound and coast to coast and-1 and La Roche entered the half with a 42-25 lead.

The Redhawks shot 50% (15 of 30 FG) in the first half. Thomas had a team-high 12 first half points while Cole had 11 points and 6 rebounds.

La Roche continued to thrive in the second half. They held Pitt-Bradford without a bucket for almost four minutes, building a thirty point lead. Butler converted a pair of free throws and Cole followed with two straight three pointers. Butler then forced a turnover in the open court and Regan finished the possession with a layup.

Thomas buried a three for a 55-25 lead with 6:25 left in the third quarter. Sanders followed a Pitt-Bradford three pointer by tallying off the next seven points. La Roche built their lead up to as many as thirty-seven points and went on to earn the victory.

Cole registered a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Thomas had 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Sanders contributed 14 points and Butler finished with 9 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
