Redhawks Strong First Half Leads to Road Win in Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY - The La Roche women's basketball team claimed victory against D'Youville with a score of 68-55. La Roche improves to 3-1 in AMCC Conference play.

The Redhawks used a late first half run, a tough 1-3-1 zone, and some key outside shooting to pick up their third AMCC Conference win of the season. Danajah Sanders and Dasja Anderson each had 18 points in the victory. Shaundrea Butler continued her steady play with 6 points and 6 assists.

The Redhawks took control on the court. Dalezsa Regan got things going with a layup in the first minute of the game. Danajah Sanders made a 3-point jump shot, giving the Redhawks a 5-point lead. A back and forth first quarter ended with the score (15-11). Just before halftime the team methodically started to seperate themselves thanks to a 18-5 run. It led into the end of the first half, when Nia Thomas made a shot in transition with 5 seconds left. La Roche led 33-20 at halftime.

The Redhawks came out focused in the second half and maintained their lead throughout with some clutch shooting from freshmen sensation Danajah Sanders. She finished 5 for 8 from three in the best game of her young career. La Roche's defense was on point today, as the home Spartans were only able to convert 33% from the field and a paltry 17% from three.

The La Roche women's basketball team will take a week off for finals and host 2018 AMCC Champion Hilbert College for their next game on Saturday, December 8 at 2:00pm.
