La Roche Clinches AMCC Tournament Berth, Will Travel to Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The Redhawks will get an opportunity to defend their AMCC Championship crown. La Roche earned the six seed in the AMCC Tournament by defeating D'Youville 71-55 on Senior Day. They will travel to Pitt-Bradford for an AMCC Quarterfinal game on Wednesday at 7pm.

The Redhawks stormed onto the court with a mission to earn their eleventh straight postseason appearance. They built up a thirteen point first quarter lead and entered the first intermission ahead 20-8. 

Nicole Boda helped La Roche extend their lead. She opened the second quarter with two straight three-pointers and Nia Thomas added another with 6:54 left.

La Roche stretched their lead to twenty and entered halftime ahead 39-19. Johnson had 14 first half points. Dalezsa Regan absolutely dominated on the boards with 13 rebounds. She nearly brought down as many rebounds as D'Youville as the Redhawks held 32-18 edge on the boards.

D'Youville cut into the lead and got it down to 43-36 with 4:49 left in the third quarter. La Roche quickly spread the margin back to double-digits and earned the playoff clinching victory.

Darrian Johnson had a senior day to remember with 22 points and a perfect 9 for 9 from the free throw line. Regan had a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Jenna Cole finished with 16 points.
