Women's Basketball Twenty-Eight Game AMCC Win Streak Ends at Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, PA -- La Roche's twenty-eight game AMCC Conference win streak came to an end on Saturday after they fell at Pitt-Bradford 88-60. The Redhawks' win-streak was the second longest in conference history after Medaille who won thirty-two straight games between 2008 and 2010. La Roche's last conference loss came at Franciscan on January 16, 2016.

Darrian Johnson led the Redhawks with 17 points. Nicole Boda reached double-figures with 10 points while Jenna Cole had 9 points and 5 boards. Ali Rinfrette scored a game-high 23 points for Pitt-Bradford.

Over half of the Redhawks' points came from the foul line where they hit 32 of 49 free throws. La Roche struggled from the field shooting just 30% from the field and 27% from distance. They lost 48-34 and the turnover battle 22-13.

La Roche remained in it throughout the first half. They took their first lead of the game at 9-7 on a pair of Jazmyne Boyd free throws in the first quarter. Pitt-Bradford started to pull away and led by before Boda and Johnson drained threes to cut the deficit to 19-17. 

The Panthers scored nine straight points and entered intermission with a 36-25 lead. 

The Redhawks got within seven in the second half but Pitt-Bradford went on a 26-5 run and held on.

La Roche will host St. Vincent College on Tuesday in the second game of a home-and-home series. The Redhawks fell at St. Vincent on November 26.
