Four Redhawks Earn AMCC All-Conference Honors, Gissendanner Coach of the Year

The La Roche Women's  Basketball team  supplemented their seventh straight AMCC regular season and tournament championship with four AMCC All Conference nominations and Coach Kam Gissendanner winning the AMCC Coach of the year. The nominations for the Lady Redhawks were Sabrina McLin (First Team), TiChina Mitchell (First Team), Mackenzie ODonnell (Second Team) and Danasha Harris (Defensive Player of the Year, Third Team).

 Kam Gissedanner has led the La Roche Women's team to the last five of their seven conference titles.  Coach Gissendanner has an impressive 116-22 record in her five seasons as Head Coach. Having recruited one of the best classes in AMCC Women's basketball history this award goes with an unblemished (18-0) conference record for the 2016-2017 season.  The Lady Redhawks were first in AMCC play in points per game (74.6) and first in points allowed (61.1) equaling a remarkable winning margin of (+13.5 ppg).

Senior Sabrina McLin (Shaw, HS) takes home her third consecutive AMCC First Team Nomination. Mclin was the 2015-2016 AMCC Player of the Year.  She adds this nomination along with becoming La Roche's all time leading scorer (1,723). Mclin fought through a mid-season injury to still finish second in the conference in points per game (21.6) and fifth in three pointers made per game (2.1). Her amazing four year career record of 92-19 along with four AMCC regular season and tournament championships will forever leave their mark upon the Lady Redhawk program.

Senior Tichina Mitchell  (Forrest Park, HS) collects her second consecutive AMCC First Team Nomination. Mitchell ends an impressive two year career with La Roche with (1,060) total points and an average of (22) points per game.  Mitchell also ranks in the top forty nationally in points per game and field goals made per game. Mitchell finished first in the AMCC in points per game this season (22.9), third in field goal percentage (52%), and ninth in rebounds per game (7.9).

Senior Mackenzie O'Donnell  (Butler, HS) added her fourth consecutive AMCC All Conference Nomination. O'Donnell has twice been named second team (2016-2017, 2015-2016) and twice third team (2014-2015, 2013-2014).  Her (1,567) career total points puts her currently third in La Roche Women's history and has a career total rebounds of (723). O'Donnell has been a consistent post presence throughout the conference all season as she finished eleventh in points per game (15.3) and minutes per game (33.1) and tenth in blocks per game (0.9). She joins Mclin in having a remarkable four year career record of 92-19 along with four AMCC regular season and tournament championships.

Senior Danasha Harris (Uniontown, HS) joins her fellow seniors with her first AMCC All Conference third team nomination. Harris also won her astounding fourth consecutive AMCC Defensive Player of the Year Award. Harris finished top twenty-five nationally with (4.44) and ends her career with an unbelievable (441) total steals. Harris was just as imposing on the glass this season as she was fourth in the AMCC in rebounds per game (8.9) and second in offensive rebounds per game (5.4).  Not to be outdone on the offensive end Harris recently became the fourth member of her senior class to score 1,000 points (1,011). ​
