Women's Hoops Cruises to Senior Day Win over Penn State Altoona

PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche women's basketball team cruised to a 92-50 senior day victory over Penn State Altoona . The Redhawks keep their quest for an undefeated conference season alive and improve to 16-0 in the AMCC Conference.

La Roche jumped out to a 12-4 lead but Penn State Altoona drained three-straight 3-pointers to take a 13-12 lead with two minutes left in the first quarter. The Redhawks responded with a 9-0 run that included a pair of coast to coast steals and baskets by TiChina Mitchell.

The Lions cut the lead to 21-18 before La Roche answered with a 19-2 second quarter run. The Redhawks were dominant in the open court forcing six turnovers and turning all of them into points. La Roche held Penn State Altoona to nine points in the quarter while scoring twenty-three.

Mitchell had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals as the Redhawks entered halftime with a 44-24 lead. They outrebounded Altoona 24-15 including 13-7 on the offensive end.

La Roche cruised in the second half with McLin (17 points), Mitchell (14 points) and O'Donnell (11 points) all netting double-figures.

Mitchell finished with 30 points, 10 rebounds 6 steals and 4 assists. McLin was not far off from a quadruple-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 8 steals and 7 assists. O'Donnell scored 17 points and Danasha Harris was a rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

The Redhawks were terrific on the boards. They outrebounded Penn State Altoona 54-31 and pulled down close to a school record 30 offensive rebounds.

La Roche will travel to Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday before closing the regular season on Saturday at D'Youville.
