Redhawks Win-Streak Reaches Ten, Can Clinch AMCC Regular Season Title With Victory on Saturday

PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche women's basketball team is now just one win away from clinching their seventh straight AMCC Regular Season Championship. The Redhawks defeated Mt. Aloyius 69-57 to extend their win-streak to double digits.

The Redhawks navigated through a ridiculously quick first quarter with a 21-16 lead. La Roche attempted twenty-three shots over the first ten minutes and outrebounded the Mounties 15-6.

La Roche slowed down the pace in the second quarter but were still extremely efficient on the floor. They hit 9 of 13 shots and built a 46-34 halftime lead. Mackenzie O'Donnell (12 points) and TiChina Mitchell (11 points) both reached double figures in the first half while Mitchell and Danasha Harris each pulled down 8 boards.

Mt Aloysius made it a game and got within five at the start of the fourth quarter.  They remained in it and trailed by just five with five minutes remaining. The Mounties managed just 1 of 18 3-pointers in the second half which ended up deciding the game.

Mackenzie O'Donnell led all scorers with 17 points and hit 7 of 12 shots. Danasha Harris registered a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. The league's leader in steals also finished with 5 steals. TiChina Mitchell also picked up a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Sabrina McLin had 15 points and 8 rebounds.

The Redhawks were dominant inside. They outrebounded Mt. Aloyius 47-32 and outscored them by eighteen in the paint. La Roche hit 27 of 64 field goals but neither shot particular well from three-point range.

La Roche will travel to Medaille on Saturday for an important AMCC Conference Game. The Redhawks can clinch home court and a conference bye with a win on Saturday.
