Mitchell Breaks Single Game Scoring Record With 40 Points In Win Over D'Youville

PITTSBURGH, PA – TiChina Mitchell became the first Lady Redhawk to score 40 points in a game when she tallied forty in La Roche's 102-50 win over D'Youville College on Saturday. Mitchell broke the single game record by passing Chantelle Jennings and Casie Cygan who each had 35 points. With the victory, La Roche improves to 4-0 in the AMCC and 6-2 overall.

The Lady Redhawks jumped out to a 33-4 lead in the first quarter and despite being outscored 18-11 in the second, entered the half with a commanding 44-22 lead. The Lady Redhawks first half defense was relentless holding D'Youville to just twenty-two shot attempts over the first twenty minutes. Mitchell hit 8 of 9 field goals (18 points) to lead La Roche at intermission.

La Roche picked up the pace in the second half and rolled to their first 100+ point total of the season. The Lady Redhawks outscored D'Youville by thirty and the Spartans never got any closer than their twenty-two point halftime deficit.

Mitchell jumped to the front of the AMCC scoring lead after breaking the school record. She hit 17 of 23 field goals and brought down 7 boards. Sabrina McLin played a terrific all-around game with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals and 6 assists. Mackenzie O'Donnell registered a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

La Roche outrebounded the Spartans 47-26 including 19-3 on the offensive glass. They outscored them by thirty-six in the paint and forced twenty-eight turnovers.

The Lady Redhawks are off until next Saturday when they travel to Westminster College. Westminster is winless in seven games this season.
