Women's Basketball Cruises in AMCC Championship Rematch

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche women's basketball (12-3, 7-1) used a big second half to upend Penn State Behrend (2-11, 1-6) 85-41 in a rematch of last year's AMCC Conference Championship.

The Lady Redhawks went 18 for 30 from the floor and shot 50% from beyond the arc to build a 38-26 halftime lead. Casie Cygan led La Roche with 11 first half points and Mackenzie O'Donnell and Shataya White added 8 points apiece. Leslie McPherson assisted on five baskets and Danasha Harris grabbed 5 boards in the first half.

La Roche started the second half on a 16-3 run and finished the game on a 17-0 run to roll to the 44 point victory.

Casie Cygan scored at least 20 points for the fourth consecutive game and finished with 21 points. Shataya White netted 14 points and went 7 for 8 from the field while Mackenzie O'Donnell scored 12 points. Danasha Harris had another great game and tallied 9 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals.

The Lady Redhawks had their best shooting night of the season and converted 61% (38 of 62) of their shots from the floor and 50% (4 of 8) from behind the arc. They also outscored the Lions off of turnovers (42-7), in the paint (58-10), on second chance points (14-3), and on the fast break (24-0).

Women's hoops will host Pitt-Greensburg on Monday at 8PM. Last season, La Roche beat Pitt-Greensburg 60-45 at the Fitness Center.
