IRVING, Texas – La Roche softball opened a three-game series against University of Dallas on Tuesday in doubleheader action. Game one was all Crusaders, defeating the Redhawks 10-0 in five innings, while in game two, La Roche used a seven run fourth inning to lift past Dallas 7-6.

GAME ONE: Dallas 10 La Roche 0 F/5

All damage was done by Dallas in the bottom of the first inning and bottom of the third inning, plating five runs in each frame.

The Crusaders runs in the bottom of the first scored by way of two bases loaded walks, two RBI singles and an RBI double.

In the bottom of the third, the five runs plated by Dallas crossed after another RBI walk, an RBI fielder's choice, an RBI groundout and a two RBI single.

Emma Kaufman took the circle for La Roche and allowed five runs, five hits and one walk, unfortunately unable to record an out.

Kynnydy Lewis pitched in relief and across three innings allowed five runs, four hits, five walks and struck out two.

Kaufman would return to the circle in the bottom of the fourth to close out the game and in that one inning allowed two hits and struck out one.

Offensively, La Roche could only come up with two hits. The first was a milestone, as Ashtin Hoover's bunt single in the top of the first gave her 100 for her career, then Jesslyn Daniels singled in the top of the fifth.

GAME TWO: La Roche 7 Dallas 6

Dallas kept its foot on the gas to open game two of the doubleheader, plating five runs over the first three innings.

Three runs crossed in the bottom of the first behind a pair of RBI singles and a wild pitch, then a single run scored for the Crusaders in the bottom of the second and third innings on two more RBI singles, holding a 5-0 lead going into the fourth.

The Redhawks sparked offensively in the top of the fourth, plating seven runs in the inning to take a 7-5 lead.

Brandi Clyde opened the scoring with a two RBI single to make it 7-2, then Emma Bizay singled in a run to make it 7-3.

Maura Wade followed, reaching on an error that brought the fourth run across, then Jesslyn Daniels singled in a pair of runs to cut the deficit to 7-6.

Wade would score the final run of the inning as she crossed home after La Roche grounded into a double play.

11 batters came to the plate in the inning and the double play was the first outs of the inning as all runs scored prior to and on that play.

Dallas threatened in the bottom of the seventh, cutting the score to the eventual final of 7-6 off a wild pitch, but would leave a runner stranded at second with no outs.

Wade tossed a complete game for the Redhawks, allowing six runs, 10 hits, two walks and struck out one.

Offensively, La Roche put together 13 hits, with Garrah Milochik, Formeck, Wade and Daniels all having a two-hit outing.

The Redhawks close the three-game series against Dallas tomorrow, Wednesday Mar. 13, with a single game set to begin at 3 p.m. EST/2 p.m. CST.
