Redhawks Come Out on Top over Tomcats in Pitcher's Duel

PITTSBURGH, PA - La Roche Softball dueled with the Thiel Tomcats this afternoon to take a break from conference play.

The contest quickly turned into a battle between the pitchers, neither one willing to admit defeat. However, it was Redhawks' pitcher Kennedi Winslow who was able to claim victory in the circle, defeating Thiel 3-1.

La Roche drew the first run, and Kennedi Winslow and Garrah Milochik hit back-to-back doubles to open up the first inning, Milochik earning the RBI.

In the bottom of the second inning, Abby Hoffman socked a lead-off double to centerfield and Macy Vignolini earned a base hit to move Hoffman to third.

Emma Bizay brought Hoffman home and moved Vignolini to second base. Katie Gaughan took her turn at the plate and laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners up one. Her sacrifice was not in vain, as Ashlee Bair hit a dribbler to the Tomcats' pitcher, and while she was busy throwing Bair out at first, Vignolini crossed home plate to give the Redhawks a 3-0 lead.
