La Roche Downed at Home

La Roche Downed at Home

PITTSBURGH, PA - Redhawk softball hosted a doubleheader against Chatham University this afternoon before returning to conference play this Saturday.

GAME ONE

La Roche struggled to get on the board this afternoon in game one. The team took a bit to settle in back at home before they could get their offense started. Unfortunately for the team, 2 errors scored 3 runs for the Cougars and the Redhawks could not bounce back.

La Roche put up one run in the fourth inning as clever base running from Garrah Milochik allowed her to steal home.

Alexis Myers took the loss in the circle for the Redhawks. Myers gave up five runs on five hits over three innings. Ashtin Hoover pitched four innings in relief and allowed zero runs on two hits.

Ashlee Bair, Brandi Clyde, Myers, Abby Hoffman, and Garrah Milochik each collected one hit on the day.

GAME TWO

In game two against the Cougars, we saw a much more settled Redhawk team.

Chatham was the first on the board in the first inning, but La Roche answered them with a run of their own. An error from the Cougars' shortstop allowed Ashtin Hoover to cross home plate to get her team on the board.

However, in the second inning, Chatham added to their lead. The Redhawks were able to add another run to their tally in the third, but it was not enough to take away their opponent's 2-run lead.

For the next four innings, both teams battled at the plate, but no one was able to score another run, keeping the runs scored in the early innings would be the ones used to decide the games.

Kennedi Winslow took the loss for the Redhawks. She was in the circle all seven innings and surrendered 4 runs on 6 hits, and struck out two.

Abby Hoffman led La Roche at the plate, with 2 hits in 3 at-bats.
