Softball Takes Tough Loss from Altoona Lions

Pittsburgh, PA - It was a tough day on Monday for La Roche University, who lost 12-3 to Penn State Altoona

Penn State Altoona got things moving in the first inning, scoring two runs.

The Redhawks evened things up at two in the bottom of the second inning when Macy Vignolini grounded out, but one run was able to score.

Penn State Altoona pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Gianna Hoppel singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run and Casey Reese singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Emily Waldrop took the loss for La Roche. The Redhawk pitcher lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while walking one.

Kelly Denk started the game for La Roche. Denk went three and a third innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and walking one

The Redhawks collected six hits on the day. Ashtin Hoover and Alexis Myers both collected multiple hits for LRU. Garrah Milochik and Emma Bizay added one hit each. 

La Roche will do a quick turn around and be back tomorrow against Mount Aloysius with a double header scheduled for 3:00 and 5:00 PM.
