Kelly Denk Hits Walk-off Single to Defeat Bobcats 2-1

PITTSBURGH, PA - The La Roche softball team hit the ground today with a conference matchup against the Bobcats of Pitt-Greensburg. In the first game of two, Kelly Denk hit a walk-off single to left field to end the game, and secure the Redhawks the win.

The Bobcats were the first on the board with a walk-RBI from Kacey Weller, gifted from La Roche pitcher Alexis Myers

This run occured in the first inning and it was the only run Pitt-Greensburg scored in game one of the double header.

The Redhawks were fighting hard to get a run in to tie up the Bobcats, leaving at least one runner on base each inning. It wasn't until the bottom of the final inning that they were finally able to make their move.

Katie Gaughan was the first to get on base for La Roche with a single down the third base line.

Ashtin Hoover was credited with the tying RBI with a double to left field. Hoover then advanced on a throwing error to third base. Kelly Denk was then up to bat, and Hoover was on third base, ready to make a dash for home plate if the opportunity presented itself.

Denk saw a few before she picked out her pitch; rocketing the ball out of left field, gave Hoover the freedom to cross home plate, and score the winning run for the Redhawks.

The righty Alexis Myers hung tough on the mound for all seven innings. Myers allowed one run on six hits, and recorded three strikeouts. She only walked three batters.

Garrah Milochik and Macy Vignolini had the hot bats, going two-for-three at the plate.

Emilee Waldrop was also able to get a hit off of her bat.
