Softball Earns First Conference Win on the Road

ALFRED, NY - After two reschedules and a rain delay, the Redhawks finally got to throw down with the Pioneers. It was well worth the wait; La Roche earned their first conference victory going 1-1 on the day. 

Game One

La Roche fought hard in the first game, but Alfred was able to snag the early lead with two runs scored in the first inning. 

The most notable performances at the plate during the first game was Kelly Denk, who smacked a double, Ashtin Hoover who rocked a triple, and Alexis Myers who earned the RBI for the one run scored by the Redhawks. 

Emilee Waldrop and Macy Vignolini also recorded hits. 

Myers was credited the loss; she let 12 hits, four runs, and three errors slip through. 

Game Two 

With a clean slate, and the will to win the Redhawks came back out on the field with fire in their bellies. 

La Roche scored six runs unanswered by the Pioneers throughout the first three innings. 

Alexis Myers, Emilee Waldrop, and Abby Hoffman all hit doubles to rally the offense; Hoffman in fact recorded two triples. 

Waldrop also shot a triple down the left field line. Laying down some sacrifice offense to get runs in were Katie Gaughan, who laid down a sac bunt, as well as Macy Vignolini. Garrah Milochick and Maria Schussler, as well as Vignolini each recorded sac fly balls. 

It was an RBI party during game two for the Redhawks; Ashing Hoover (3), Emilee Waldrop (2) Macy Vignolini (2), Kelly Denk, Myers, Milochick, and Hoffman all were credited with an RBI. 

Gaughan also put her speed to good use and stole a base to put herself in prime scoring position. 

Emilee Waldrop was credited the win. The right hander went all seven innings and faced 34 batters. She struck out five baters, allowed 12 hits, and five runs. 

The Redhawks will be back in the 'Burgh on Monday against Penn State-Altoona, first pitched is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
