Softball Faces Pitt Bradford in AMCC Quarterfinals

Number seven seed La Roche will visit number two seed Pitt Bradford on Sunday, May 9th for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Quarterfinals. The best-of-three series will begin at 1:00 p.m.

La Roche News and Notes

  • LRU finished the regular season with a 7-9 conference record and fell to the number seven seed in the conference standings. The Redhawks dropped four of their last five regular season games. Only two games separated the #3-#7 seeds in the AMCC standings.
  • At the plate in conference play, LRU ranks fifth in team batting average (.315), second in on-base percentage (.401), sixth in extra base hits (29) and sixth in slugging percentage (.401).
  • The Redhawks have made a conference-high 45 errors in the field in 16 conference games and own an AMCC worst .908 fielding percentage.
  • On the mound, senior Alexa Young has been the Redhawks ace. In conference play, Young went 5-4, had two saves and pitched a league-high nine complete games. She pitched a total of 68.1 innings against the conference (2nd most in AMCC). Young has a 3.18 ERA (8th in AMCC), 49 strikeouts (T-1st in AMCC) and 14 walks this season.
  • Freshman Ashtin Hoover led the team and ranked fifth in the conference with a .443 batting average.
  • Senior Devan Smith led the team with 24 RBI (10 more than the next Redhawk). Her 22 RBI in conference play rank 3rd in the AMCC. She also had a team high 28 hits.
  • Junior Kelly Denk ranks first on the team and tied second in the conference with 11 extra base hits. Denk has had seven extra base hits in her last six games.
  • Six Redhawks are currently batting over .300 (Ashtin Hoover - .443, Devan Smith - .412, Kelly Denk - .388, Meghan Haynes - .368, Alexis Myers - .339, Lyndsi Urani - .318).

Pitt Bradford News and Notes

  • The Panthers finished 14-2 in conference play and were crowned co-regular season AMCC Champs with Penn St. Behrend who also finished 14-2 against the AMCC. Bradford got the number two seed in the tournament since they went 0-2 against Behrend during the regular season.
  • UPB swept the Redhawks in both teams' final regular season doubleheader on May 1st. Bradford's Jordan Uhing threw her second no-hitter of the season in game one.
  • Jordan Uhing has dominated her opponents from the circle, leading the conference in wins (7), ERA (1.57), and strikeouts (49). She threw two no-hitters this season.
  • Gabby Carpenter and Hannah Lathrop have led the Panther offense. Carpenter is hitting .412 out of the leadoff spot, reaching base in 15 of 16 conference games. Lathrop leads the conference in homeruns in conference play with four, and leads the team in RBIs with 22.
  • The Panthers have outscored their opponents 120-55 this season.
  • In conference play, Pitt Bradford's pitchers ranks first in team ERA (2.43), second in hits allowed (105) and second in strikeouts (72).
  • At the plate, the Panthers rank third in team batting average (.326), fifth in runs (99), sixth in RBI (82), and fourth in extra base hits (36).
