Franciscan 4 La Roche 3 (Final)
The Redhawks took control early with three runs in the top of the first inning. Dayna Calloway got things started with a one-out double through the left side of the infield. Kelly Denk was hit by a pitch and Alexis Medva singled to load the bases. Kayla Ordos followed with a bases loaded walk for a 1-0 Redhawk lead. An error in the next at bat allowed Denk and Medva to score for a 3-0 lead.
Starting pitcher Kaylee Grassmyer stranded Baron runners in the first and second innings. Franciscan scored a run in the third and added three more in the fourth.
The Redhawks were unable to plate a run in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings and Franciscan hung on.
Calloway, Denk, and Medva all tallied runs and Ordos had an RBI. Alexa Young threw 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.
Franciscan 7 La Roche 1 (Final)
The Barons used a pair of home runs and timely hitting to build up a 6-0 lead heading into the sixth inning.
La Roche got the offense going in the top of the sixth. Samantha Hunter led off the inning with a single and Devan Smith reached base to put runners on first and second base. Alexis Medva came through with an RBI single to score Smith and cut the deficit to five.
Franciscan answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth and held on for the 7-1 victory.
Alexa Young threw all six innings and had two hits. Medva hit in a run and Smith scored.
