Hilbert Tops La Roche in Pitcher's Duel

BUFFALO, NY -- Hilbert was able to double the score in each game against the Redhawks in a double header in Tonawanda today. They took the games 4-2 and 2-1 leading the Redhawks to pick up another two losses.

In the first game Hilbert's pitchers were able to keep the Redhawks at bay. With combined stats of three strikeouts and only two runs, La Roche just couldn't get past them. La Roche's Kaylee Grassmyer and Michaela Geracia scored the Redhawks' two runs and it was Emily Samluk and Dayna Calloway that batted them in.

On the pitching mound, Alexa Young fell just short of matching the combined stats of Hilbert's two pitchers. Young pitched the whole game and gave up just four runs, but the Redhawls manufactured just two runs of offense.

In the later game, it was Hilbert's pitcher, Marisa McIntyre that sealed the win for the opposition. By only giving up one run in her seven innings pitched, and also hurling five strikeouts, there was no scoring against her. La Roche's pitcher, Grassmyer, also had some strong stats when leaving today's game after she gave up only 2 runs and struck out two batters. The second game was a battle of pitchers which Hilbert narrowly came out ahead.
