Dayna Calloway drew a one-out walk and Kelly Denk followed with a double. Alexis Medva then hit in both, doubling into centerfield for a 2-1 lead. Emily Samluk singled home Medva and then scored on an error.

Fitchburg 9 La Roche 2

Albertus Magnus 8 La Roche 0

Softball lost to Fitchburg 9-2 and Albertus Magnus 8-0 while playing in the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Mrytle Beach, SC.

Against Fitchburg, batters Emily Samluk and Rory Bretz were able to get La Roche off to a quick start in the second inning each scoring a run. Samluk's double brought Bretz home, and Kayla Ordos grounded out to bring Samluk back home.

Pitcher, Kalyee Grassmyer was able to throw 8 strikeouts to hold off the opposition. However, the 6 runs by Fitchburg in the fourth inning was just too much for the Redhawks to overcome.

Against Albertus Magnus, pitchers Kaylee Grassmyer and Rory Bretz were each able to throw a strikeout, but it wasn't enough to stop the opposing offense. The Redhawks were able to hold out hope of a comeback up until the bottom of the fourth when Albertus Magnus scored 5 runs.

Softball will get back to work tomorrow vs. Cairn and Centenary.
