Softball Picked To Place Eighth in AMCC Conference

La Roche College Softball is picked to finish eighth in this year's AMCC Standings as predicted by the league's head coaches. The Redhawks placed eighth in 2018 with a 15-19 record overall and a 7-11 record in conference.

Penn State Behrend is predicted to win the AMCC Conference. Penn State Altoona's Haley Giedroc is the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year while Medaille's Laura Kratzke is the AMCC Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

Sophomores Devan Smith and Alexa Young are receving preseason praise. Infielder Smith ranked second on La Roche in batting average, doubles and runs batted in in 2018. Pitcher Young started fourteen games in 2018. She had 8 wins, struck out 70, and pitched to a 3.29 ERA.

The Redhawks kick off the season with a six game schedule in South Carolina from March 10-13. La Roche hosts their home opener on March 27 when they welcome Chatham to campus. The remainder of their non-conference schedule consists of PAC Conference foes (St. Vincent, W&J, Thiel, Westminster, and Grove City). Senior day is April 27 against Medaille.
