Redhawks Top Randolph, Win Fourth Straight

N. Myrtle Beach, SC -- La Roche Softball used timely hitting and pitcher Savannah Leonard had a strong outing as the Redhawks topped Randolph 7-4 on Wednesday afternoon. The victory is their fourth straight. 

La Roche wasted no time and jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Ashley Burford drew a leadoff walk and Andie Lippman followed with an RBI triple through the right side. A Kelsey Plato groundout advanced Lippman from third base for a two run Redhawk lead.

Randolph scored a run in the second but the Redhawks added another in the third. La Roche loaded the bases with three straight singles and a Plato groundout scored Burford.

Randolph tacked on another in the third and were threatening with runners at second and third in the fourth. Pitcher Savannah Leonard came up big, getting Randolph to ground out to second base and end the inning.

The Redhawks added insurance runs in the fifth and seventh innings. Burford scored on an error in the fifth and Aubrie Martin hit a bases clearing double in the seventh for a 7-3 lead. Randolph got one back in the seventh, but Leonard used a groundout to end it.

Burford went 3 for 3 with four runs and a walk. Martin and Plato each hit in a pair while Lippman scored and hit in one. Leonard threw all seven innings to earn the win.
