Men's XC Finishes 2nd at Westmoreland Community College 5K

Both the men's and women's cross country teams ran strong meets on a wet and cold course at the Westmoreland Community College 5K on Saturday.

The men's cross country team got strong performances from all six runners to finish second in the team standings. Jeffrey Turner led La Roche with a 2nd place finish (18:42) and Joey Kurcina (18:52) crossed the line six seconds later for 3rd place. Dominique Clayton (9th, 20:37), Robby Patterson (13th, 22:32), Brandon Schreckengost (14th, 23:42), and Matt Johnson (15th, 24:50) all provided quality times for the Redhawks.

Alecia Kidder followed the men's race with a personal-best 22:17 to win the women's 5K. Kidder trailed Pitt-Greensburg's Christine Hartner for the first half of the course before passing her and winning easily by 12 seconds. Leslie McPherson (13th, 26:54) Rebecca Burkhart (14th, 25:07), Katie Pizura (18th, 31:39), Casie Cygan (23rd, 44:42), and Brittany Carter (24th, 44:44) all ran strong races to guide the Lady Redhawks to a 4th place finish.
