Redhawks Drop Close Call To Muskies 2-1

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – La Roche men's soccer kicked off a four game road trip on Wednesday, but were unable to hold off Muskingum, falling to the Muskies 2-1.

It was a silent first half, as neither team were able to find the back of the net, keeping the game scoreless through 45 minutes.

Out of the half, La Roche jumped ahead, just 5:52 in when Miles Jackson scored, assisted by Samuel Mastroberardino to give the Redhawks the lead.

Unfortunately, the lead was short lived, as Muskingum responded just 4:41 seconds later to tie the game 1-1, then would score the game-winner 7:08 after that to take the victory.

The final shot total saw the Muskies take 27 shots with seven on net, while La Roche had 13 shots and five on net.

Between the pipes, sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Rizzo made five saves on seven attempts.

Jackson would lead the charge with four shots, placing two on goal, while Jake Gorman ended the game with three shots and had two on goal as well.

The Redhawks move to step two of the road trip, beginning conference play on Saturday, Sept. 23 when they travel to Penn State Behrend for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
