Karwoski Named Head Coach For Men's Soccer

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche University Director of Athletics Jim Tinkey has announced the hiring of Chris Karwoski as the head coach for the men's soccer program.

"La Roche University is very excited to have Coach Karwoski joining our coaching staff," said Tinkey.

"He's got an extensive coaching background and is a prominent figure in the local men's soccer club landscape. We're all looking forward to the future of our men's soccer program."

Karwoski brings with him 30 years of soccer coaching experience, including 22 years at the NCAA Division I level.

He began as an assistant for the University of Pittsburgh from 1993-1998, before moving to Western Michigan University where he was the head coach for 10 years from 1998-2008.

During his tenure with the Mustangs, Karwoski earned 2003 MAC Coach of the Year honors after leading his team to the MAC Championship.

Karwoski returned to Pitt as an Associate Head Coach in 2009 when he remained in the position until 2015.

Alongside his collegiate duties, upon his return to Pittsburgh, he also holds the title of Director of Club Operations for FC Pittsburgh Soccer Club since 2010 and the Director of Coaching for the Sewickley Area Soccer Community Program since 2011.
