Nick Russo To Lead La Roche University Men's Soccer Program

La Roche University is excited to announce that Nick Russo has been named the head coach of the men's soccer program. Russo is a 2010 La Roche University graduate.

"I'm really looking forward to Coach Russo bringing his brand of leadership to the men's soccer program", said Director of Athletics Jim Tinkey. "As a player here at La Roche University Nick was the epitome of a college student athlete. He moved in one direction, forward at all times. He's always been an intense and natural leader, and I'm thrilled to have one of our own taking over the program".

Russo was elevated to head coach after serving as an assistant coach on Coach David Day's staff for the past three seasons. La Roche advanced to the postseason in all three years and he's helped nine Redhawks earn spots on the All-Conference Team

Russo has over a decade of coaching experience. He was the varsity head coach at Shaler Area High School for three seasons. For the past eleven years, Russo has been a part of Beadling Soccer Club. He has served as Director of Coaching for the past two years. While at Beadling, Russo has guided two teams to state championships.

Russo enjoyed a stellar soccer career prior to joining the coaching ranks. He was a four-year starter, team captain, and All-Conference defender while an undergrad at La Roche. Russo continued his soccer career post-graduation. He trained and played in matches for an English semi-professional team and concluded his career with the Kansas City Comets of the MISL (Major Indoor Soccer League).

"I would like to thank Jim Tinkey and Sister Candace Introcaso and the Athletics Department for the opportunity to lead my alma-mater. I'm excited to continue the winning tradition that David Day and Ed Pupich have built over the past ten years."
