Men's Soccer Closes Season in AMCC Tournament Quarterfinal

CRESSON, PA -- La Roche Men's Soccer 2018 season came to a close with a 2-1 loss at Mt. Aloysius on Saturday in the AMCC Tournament Quarterfinal. The Mounties will play at Medaille on Tuesday in the AMCC Tournament Semifinals.

Ximo Vicent provided the opening tally just six minutes into the game. The Mounties' Christopher Moses was shown a red card, and Vicent drilled a free kick from just outside the 18 yardline and into the back of the net.

The Redhawks continued to attack and outshot Mt. Aloyius 3-0 over the next fifteen minutes. The Mounties found the equalizer in the twenty-eighth minute. Joshua Devlin collected a long ball and struck it for a 1-1 game.

Mt. Aloysius grabbed the momentum and Pau Aran found the top right corner for a 2-1 lead late in the first half.

La Roche came out of intermission refocused. Ryan Kelly came just inches away from tying it, redirecting the ball off the post in the forty-ninth minute.

The Redhawk defense limited the Mounties and gave La Roche an opportunity it tie it up. Vicent, Kyle Harriett, and Firas Abduljawad each registered second half shots, but the Mounties held on.

Vicent climbed into third place on La Roche's scoring list with his first half goal. He concludes his career with 92 points.
