La Roche Is In the Playoffs! Redhawks Clinch AMCC Tournament Berth With 4-1 Win Over Altoona

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche men's soccer is in the playoffs! Ximo Vicent scored twice and Kyle Harriett had a goal and an assist, helping the Redhawks to a 4-1 win in an AMCC Tournament elimination game against Penn State Altoona. La Roche will travel to Mt. Aloysius on Saturday at 1pm.

Penn State Altoona struck first, striking a low ball into the left side of the net just six minutes in. Two minutes later, Austin Gorman made a terrific diving stop to keep the Redhawks within a score.

Ximo Vicent made the Lions pay in the eleventh minute. Nick Shaw drew a foul just outside the box, and Vicent sent a free kick curling into the left side of the net.

Vicent netted his second goal in the twentieth minute. Kyle Harriett was tripped up in the box and Vicent beat the keeper for a 2-0 lead.

Harriett hit the post in the twenty-fifth minute and Ty Savochka forced Altoona to make a leaping save in the thirty-eighth minute.

Harriett and Ryan Kelly had quality chances early in the second half, with Kelly hitting the crossbar. Gorman cut off the corner to make a save in the sixty-fifth minute.

Harriett put the game out of reach, taking a thru ball from Dante Nicholas and ripping it into the right corner of the net. Firas Abduljawad then made it 4-1, netting a give and go goal from Harriett.

Gorman made 7 saves.
