Gorman Makes 15 Saves in Men's Soccer's Defeat at Mt. Aloysius

CRESSON, PA -- The Redhawks continued to play their way through a difficult early conference schedule, traveling to Mt. Aloysius on Tuesday night. Mt. Aloysius came into tonight's contest having won 7 straight and outscoring opponents 20-1. La Roche was able to hold the Mounties in check for a majority of the evening. The defense limited quality scoring attempts, and what got through, goalkeeper Austin Gorman was able to deny. Two of Mt. Aloysius' goals came on breakdowns late in each half, while the other was the game-winner midway through the first half.

Mt. Aloysius' Pete Smerecky tallied the winner off a scramble in front of net in the twenty-eighth minute. Gorman stood tall and pushed away seven first half shots, but Smerecky got hold of a rebound in the forty-forth minute and sent it in for a 2-0 lead.

The defense continued to make things difficult for the Mounties and Gorman came up big with eight straight saves. Mt. Aloysius' Joshua Devlin finally broke through, taking a through ball from Jon Fernandez and making it a 3-0 game.

Gorman finished with 15 saves. He currently ranks second in the AMCC with 53 saves.
