PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 game to Mt. Aloysius on Tuesday afternoon. The Redhawks secure the #5 seed in the AMCC Tournament and will travel to Franciscan University on Saturday afternoon.
The Redhawks turned the ball over in their zone and Mt. Aloysius capitalized for a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. Abdullah Aljundi got the start in net and made a tough sliding stop in the seventeenth minute to keep it a one goal game. Pedro Ansede nearly found the equalizer two minutes later but Mt. Aloysius keeper James Eyre made a fingertip save and the ball trickled just wide.
La Roche played a majority of the final twenty minutes of the first in the opposing zone but the Mounties entered intermission with a one goal lead. Mt. Aloysius held the shot advantage but the Redhawks were superior in corners.
Mt. Alosyius' Will Funez scored on a thru ball six minutes into the second half to make it a two score game.
The Redhawks tallied 13 shots in the loss. Startime for Saturday is still to be determined.
