La Roche Falls at Behrend, Game Tuesday to Decide Fourth or Fifth Seed

ERIE, PA -- The Redhawks will be either the fourth or fifth seed in this year's AMCC Conference Tournament. A victory on Tuesday against Mt. Aloysius will more than likely clinch the fourth seed and a home quarterfinal game.

Both teams played competitive soccer in the first half with Penn State Behrend holding a slight 8-6 lead in shots and the Redhawks a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. Tom Spagnolo provided La Roche with their best scoring chance of the first half forcing Behrend keeper Chris Ralph to stretch out for a save. Ximo Vicent, Peter Kuir, Peter Spagnolo and Tyler Grebur all had quality chances over the opening forty-five minutes.

The lone first half goal came in the fortieth minute. Penn State Behrend earned a corner kick and James Young headed in Ryan Maurer's curling ball through the box.

Redhawks' keeper Abdullah Aljundi was terrific in the second half pushing six shots away before Behrend found their second goal. The Lions continued to execute their set pieces this time Nick McKee heading in Matt Dziadosz' corner kick.

Ximo Vicent and Nick Shaw forced Ralph to make tough stops late but Penn State Behrend held on for the victory.

Aljundi made nine saves in the loss.

La Roche will host Mt. Aloysius on Tuesday at 2pm.
