Seniors Honored, Ansede Breaks Record, Redhawks Win

Pittsburgh, Pa – The La Roche men's soccer team won this afternoon's conference game against Pitt Bradford 8-0.  Aaron Lagnese, Pedro Ansede, Tyler Grebur, Peter Spagnolo were all honored as they wrap up their soccer careers in front of their home crowd. However, it was Ansede who lead the charge for the Redhawks with a hat trick performance, and taking home the single season goals record for the program.

Lagnese started the offense when he found the net off a feed from Peter Spagnolo (6:21). Defender Peter Kuhr headed in a goal of his own off a corner set piece from Ximo Vincent. Vincent assisted on four of the Redhawk goals today.

Ansede, who entered the game with eleven goals on the season, accumulated his hat trick in an incredible five-minute stretch shortly after. Vincent found Ansede for the first (25:52). Freshmen Hugo Arroyo for the second (27:05). Before Vincent assisted on the record breaker (29:04). La Roche took a 5-0 lead into halftime.

Tyler Savochka (55:16), Tom Spagnolo (62:07), and Kyle Harriett (69:16) all scored second half goals to bring the La Roche final tally to 8-0. Goalkeeper Austin Gorman saved all twelve Pitt Bradford shots for the shut out.

Ansede's fourteen goals on the season pushes him past Bryan Weimerskirch, class of 2013, and Reuben Jolo, class of 2008 who both had thirteen in their respective seasons. La Roche currently sits second in the AMCC with 3.0 goals per game and will look to continue their offensive attack as they travel to rivals Carnegie Mellon October 18th, and Penn State Behrend October 21st.
