Ansede Goal Carries Redhawks Past Greensburg

GREENSBURG, PA -- Pedro Ansede scored just before halftime and Austin Gorman made six saves as La Roche shutout Pitt-Greensburg 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The Redhawks improve to 6-7-1 and 3-2-1 in the AMCC Conference.

The Redhawks controlled play early and held the ball in Pitt-Greensburg's end for a majority of the first half. La Roche attempted four corner kicks in the first four minutes including three in a one minute period where they nearly scored.

Ansede's goal came at the 44:35 mark of the first half on a feed from Peter Kuir. Ansede took Kuir's pass from thirty-five yards out, made a move and curled it past the diving Pitt-Greensburg keeper.

La Roche outshot Pitt-Greensburg 7-6 at the half but the difference came where the Redhawks held a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Kiko Alejandre and Ximo Vicent forced Pitt-Greensburg keeper Reese Laurell to make tough saves early in the second half. La Roche continued to get quality chances but the Bobcats did enough to keep the Redhawks from creating seperation. Pitt-Greensburg was able to get two shots to goal late but Gorman pushed them aside and the Redhawks earned the conference victory.

La Roche outshot Pitt-Greensburg 15-10 and attempted seven more corner kicks.

The Redhawks will welcome Pitt-Bradford to campus on Saturday for a big conference game. La Roche will recognize their senior class before kick-off.
