Men's Soccer Falls in Home Debut

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The La Roche men's soccer team dropped their home debut falling to Geneva College 6-2.

Geneva struck twice in the first five minutes but La Roche's Spanish connection answered in the eighth. Pedro Ansede found Ximo Vincent cutting through the middle who beat the keeper far side.

Vicent nearly found the equalizer in the seventeenth minute but a quality save and Geneva breakaway became a 3-1 battle. Liam O'Hallaran made it a 4-1 game in the twenty-fifth minute.

The Redhawks found the back of the net in the thirty-third minute but an offsides negated the tally.

Both teams played an even first eighteen minutes of the second half. Neither team had many quality chances until a turnover led to a fifth Geneva goal. Gib McCracken converted a PK for a 6-1 lead.

The Redhawks cut the deficit with a goal in the seventy-ninth minute. Nick Shaw pinched in from his defensive position and found Aaron Lagnese for the goal.

Vicent and Lagnese scored goals while Ansede and Shaw provided helpers.

The Redhawks will host St. Vincent College on Friday at 4pm.
